Enjoy a Mt Cook Winter Weekend Escape Book Now
Sick of hanging around home during the winter months? Uninspired by the doom and gloom of winter city life? Why not head to Aoraki Mount Cook and enjoy the beautiful scenery and activities on offer.
Oh my, what a big sleep in! You wake up at Glentanner Park Centre to the sight of Aoraki Mount Cook covered in snow. It was dark when you arrived last night so you are so pleased to see some blue sky! Wow! You then quickly get ready for the day so you can get your Free Cooked Breakfasts at Tasman Delta Cafe.
The day is a flying day so you make the most of it and do just that. You are not disappointed. You feel on cloud 9 as your walk through the fluffy white snow on your snow landing. What a view!
(Oh no, the weather isn’t so good? Talk to our reception staff about what you could do instead, including going to the Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre and the Department of Conservation Visitors Centre)
After a delicious lunch at Tasman Delta Cafe, you head up to Mt Cook. There are so many different walks to do, but you decide on the most popular – The Hooker Valley Track. There is fresh snow around, you feel like you are so far from home. What a great escape!
You head back to Mt Cook Village to check out the Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre. Some fascinating and interesting things to be learnt about the region. You catch the last showing of the Mt Cook Magic 3D Movie in the planetarium. What a great day it has been, and you still have dinner to go! You have 3 options to choose from for your meal, The Panorama Room, The Chamois Bar and The Old Mountaineers.
You enjoy another delicious breakfast at Tasman Delta Cafe. What a view. You and your partner are torn over where the best view of Aoraki Mt Cook is from, Glentanner or Mt Cook. Both incredible. You feel very lucky to have struck such great weather but you realise you would have had a great time regardless.
You head for home, very satisfied and refreshed from your mini escape. You make a pact to do more trips to Glentanner and the Mt Cook Region. On the way home you top off a great weekend by having a bathe at either Tekapo Springs or The Omarama Hot Tubs (depending on what direction you are heading). Bliss!
Please check timings etc of your activities and opening hours with our reception staff before you set your plans in concrete!
