Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Way
Starting in Aoraki Mount Cook National Park and finishing in the East Coast Township of Oamaru, the Alps to Ocean 300km Cycle Trail showcases New Zealand’s vast and varied landscapes and cultural icons. Located just 18km from the start of this trail, Glentanner Park Centre with all its accommodation and facilities is the perfect place to stay during your cycle adventure. Please note there is plenty of space available for storage of your bicycles.
The Cycle Trail offers a wonderful opportunity to take a flight across Lake Pukaki. From Glentanner Park you, your bicycles and gear will be transported right to Braemar Station by The Helicopter Line, where the trail continues. Offering the best deal in the region it will cost only NZD420.00 per load (Max of 5 people).
Open – There are currently 3 great rides in the Mackenzie region of the Cycle Way open – The Jollie River to Chop Creek/Tasman Point, Pukaki Foreshore and Pukaki Flats. By mid Jan 2012 you will be able to Cycle from Mt Cook National Park to the Southern Eastern Corner of Ohau. Of course you can cycle from Mt Cook Village to Glentanner Park anytime!

Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail SectionsOf course it is up to you which parts of the trail you would like to do, and where you would like to meet up with it but the 300km trail can be split into 8 sections. 1, Aoraki Mount Cook National Park to Glentanner (23km) – a very scenic cycle along State Highway 80, or Aoraki Mount Cook National Park to Braemar Station (Heli Flight required) 37km Please note with both options you are required to take a Helicopter Flight to meet up with the track at Braemar Station on the other side of Lake Pukaki. From Glentanner you can take a flight with The Helicopter Line for NZD420.00 – a max of 5 people per load and this includes transport of your gear and bikes. The best deal in town! 2.
