"I have been here before years ago and also wanted to go back as it stayed with me as being the perfect place to go as part of our honeymoon and it was! Yes it is a camping ground type place - we stayed in a cabin and it's basic, yes, but right through our window was the most spectacular view of Mt Cook day and night - we saw the sunset and everything. The facilities there are really good - we used the shared bathrooms/showers and the shared kitchen/living room/dining areas and all very well set up. We were really impressed. There is plenty of stuff in the kitchen - when we were there about five others were also preparing meals but lots of space still. They have couches and a tv. They also have a huge outdoor bbq preparation area too there. I just love this place! Highly recommend it! (You can get cabins with bathrooms in them etc so you dont have to share)"
"Glentanner is beauty at a bargain"
"We stayed in a private, budget room at Glentanner, used the shared bathrooms and kitchen and loved it. The location is gorgeous with lots of hikes from your front door. The staff was exceedingly helpful to me as I had left some meds in Hanmer Springs and GP staff updated me on their status and helped me reconnect with them in Christchurch. It was fun to cook elbow to elbow with folks from all over the world and we made friends with several couples. Only complaints is that the bed was not comfortable. We had a double bed in the room and all the other bunks were singles. We could have doubled our mattresses had we had singles, but there were no sheets. So if you get a budget room, go for the single beds and add a mattress from another bed to make it comfortable."
